Anthia K. Forbes-Carey, M.D, D.M, (PAEDS)

Paediatrician

Dr. Anthia K. Forbes-Carey was born and raised on the island of Grand Bahama. Her Hunt family lineage stems from the island of Eleuthera and the Forbes lineage stemming  from the Turks and Caicos islands. 

Dr. Forbes-Carey obtained her Medical Degree (M.D.) from the University of Medical Sciences, Santiago de Cuba. Fluent in the Spanish language, she completed her M. D. with honors in Cuba, where she resided for 7 years.

Her clinical internship was completed at the Rand Memorial Hospital and the Princess Margaret Hospital in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. 

She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI), School of Clinical Medicine and Research (SCMR) where she obtained a Doctor of Medicine in Paediatrics. She completed her research studies for the Paediatric degree on the "Prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences in Urban Communities in The Bahamas" and is a board certified Paediatrician. 


Dr. Forbes-Carey is board certified with the Caribbean Association of Medical Councils (CAMC) and having also previously resided in Ottawa Canada, has successfully completed her Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam (MCCEE). She is registered and licensed as a Specialist in Paediatrics with The Bahamas Medical Council (BMC). 

She spent time in the Business community and has experience in the Human Resources (HR) department (Health & Safety and in Project Management). 

Dr. Forbes-Carey has served her Country and is a former Deputy Chairman of the Bahamas Anti-Doping Commission (BADC) under the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture. 

Dr. Forbes-Carey is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Pilot Club of Lucaya, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, and has a wealth of experience in both Business and Medicine. 

She is married and the mother of three beautiful children.
